Preview: Duff on Scunthorpe United

8 August 2019

Cheltenham Town manager Michael Duff is looking to bounce back from an opening day defeat at Leyton Orient when his Robins side take on Scunthorpe United in their first home game of the season.

The Iron travel down to Gloucestershire also looking to get their first points on the board after losing 2-0 at home to Swindon Town and Cheltenham come into the match aiming to continue their fine run of home form that saw them finish 2018/19 unbeaten in ten at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

But Duff is still wary of the threat that Paul Hurst's team will pose, especially after getting relegated from League One last season.

"They'll be coming into it disappointed after losing their first home game," he said.

"They're a team that's been relegated so they will want to kick-start their momentum as quickly as possible but it's still obviously very early in the season.

"It used to be that people didn't look at the table until between eight and ten games in but now they want to look at it after a game.

"So it's important that we get back on the horse and deliver a performance like we did in the first 20-25 minutes last week and try to maintain that quality and intensity, then hopefully we'll win the game.

"We're focusing on ourselves, we believe that we have quality in the group and we believe that if we turn up more often than not we'll win more games than we lose."
