Loan watch: Smith on top form while heading for the play-offs

29 April 2019

Tom Smith scored for the second time in a week to help Bath City record a morale boosting win ahead of the National League South play-offs this week.

The midfielder found the back of the net with a free kick to help Jerry Gill's team finish 5th in the division.

The result subsequently denied opponents Billericay Town a place in the play-offs, and means that Bath will take on Wealdstone in a play-off eliminator on Wednesday evening at Twerton Park.

As well as finding the net again, Smith was named in The Non-League Paper's National League North and South Team of the Week for his performance.

Elsewhere, Manny Duku played the full 90 minutes for FC Halifax Town as they won 2-0 at play-off finishers AFC Fylde on the final day of the National League season.

Josh Debayo was an unused substitute as his Dover Athletic team beat Sutton United 3-0 on the final day, and Liam McAlinden featured for the whole game as Kidderminster Harriers, who parted company with former Robins boss Mark Yates recently, ended their National League North campaign with a 2-1 home loss to Guiseley.

There was only one member of the club's under-18s set-up who was in loan action elsewhere.

Archie Brennan featured for one last time at Slimbridge as they brought their Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South season to a close with a good 1-0 away win over Thatcham Town.
