FPA: Six members of 1998/99 title winning squad return for final home game

24 April 2019

This weekend the Cheltenham Town Former Players' Association will welcome back six members of the 1998/99 Conference title winning team on the final game of the season against Swindon Town at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Earlier this week it marked 20 years since a last gasp winner from current manager Michael Duff sealed Cheltenham's promotion to the Football League for the first time with a 3-2 victory over Yeovil Town.

Six of Duff's former teammates are set to return on Saturday as guests of the FPA instead of the usual two to celebrate the occasion as the Robins look to finish the season strongly at home, where they haven't lost in nine Sky Bet League Two matches.

John Brough, Lee Howells, Richard Walker, Kieth Knight, Dave Norton and Jason Eaton are the players returning - all of which will be on the pitch at half-time.

FPA Chairman Simon Goodwin said: "We wanted to try and do something special as it is the anniversary year for the promotion to the Football League so we have managed to assemble some of that historic squad.

"A lot of effort has gone into getting these guys back, some have already been back this season but it is a special occasion.

"We will be around the club during the day, please stop and say hello and grab some autographs or photos if you wish."

The FPA are also sponsoring Cheltenham Town Ladies' match against Swindon Town Ladies, which will be played after the first team's hotly anticipated clash and tickets are FREE for this match - which kicks-off at 7pm.

Season tickets for the 2019/20 campaign are also able to be applied for from the Ticket Office Thursday and Friday from 10am-3pm and on the day of the match.

A reminder that prices have been cut for adults and seniors, while there has been an introduction of a new price range for 16-22 year-olds.

Under-16 season tickets come with a replica home or away Cheltenham Town shirt if bought before the Early Bird deadline on Friday 31 May.
