Luke Varney was delighted to get the chance to make his Cheltenham Town debut in yesterday's 2-0 defeat by Lincoln City.
The former Premier League striker, who became Michael Duff's first signing as Robins boss on Friday, replaced Manny Duku in the 59th minute at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.
"It's been a bit of a whirlwind week and I am delighted to get on the pitch, but I'm frustrated about the result," he said.
"We knew it was going to be a tough match against the league leaders but we have to dust ourselves off and prepare for the Morecambe match on Tuesday.
"There's disappointed bodies in the changing room but the beauty of League Two is that the games come thick and fast, and we've got the chance to quickly put it right.
"I was delighted to get out there and play and I'm going to get better, fresher and sharper as I get the minutes.
"I had some good tussles (with boss Michael Duff) but I'm playing for him now and not against him."
