Former Players Association: Welcome back, Archie and Super Dale!

13 September 2018

The Former Players Association are delighted to announce that Lee “Archie” Howells and Dale Watkins, both former team mates of new Manager Michael Duff, will be special guests this Saturday when the Robins take on Crewe Alexandra.

Lee Howells is the fourth highest appearance holder for the Robins, playing 450 times between 1991 and 2004 scoring a total of 77 goals. Dale Watkins was signed from Gloucester City in 1997, playing 73 times for Cheltenham and scoring 38 goals in the process.

Simon Goodwin, Chairman of the Former Players Association and the youngest player to represent the Robins at senior level, said: “After a successful launch on the 1st September, we are delighted to welcome Lee Howells and Dale Watkins for Saturday’s game against Crewe Alexandra”.

“Lee and Dale were very special players for the Robins and are club legends. I was lucky enough to play alongside Archie and he was a wonderful player, great on the ball and strong in the tackle. Dale joined the club after I had left but had a huge impact under Steve Cotterill, helping Cheltenham gain promotion as well as experiencing an FA Trophy Final victory over Southport at Wembley.”

“We want to make sure your matchday is special so if you see our guests around the ground make sure you grab a selfie and an autograph!”.

Lee Howells and Dale Watkins will be in the main bar from 2pm to announce the team news to supporters before participating in a Q&A. To send in your questions, head over to our Facebook and Twitter pages using the #AskArchie and #AskDale.
