Will Boyle and Ryan Broom were guests at St James’ Primary School yesterday helping to achieve the club’s aim of getting 5,000 school children through the gates at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.
The players joined the Cheltenham Town Community Trust to help deliver a coaching session to Year 6’s as part of the Premier League Primary Stars project, an initiative that aspires to encourage children to live an active lifestyle.
Boyle, who is the ambassador for the Premier League Primary Stars project, said: “It’s been really good to see the kids enjoying themselves, although it is quite windy today, but it’s good to see smiles on their faces”.
“These visits are massively important, especially at this age when kids love football, both boys and girls”.
“The key message is just to try and enjoy football as much as possible. There’s a lot of kids smiling and enjoying themselves, I’ve even seen some of the girls doing cartwheels in the goal behind me”.
Each child received a voucher entitling them and their parents to the fixture against Yeovil Town on the 13th October.
Boyle said: “It’d be good to get the next generation down at the stadium and hopefully get some lifelong Cheltenham fans starting early!”.
