In focus: Forest Green Rovers v Robins

17 October 2018

It’s derby day on Saturday (October 20), as Cheltenham Town travel to the New Lawn to face Gloucestershire rivals Forest Green Rovers (kick-off 3pm).

The Robins come into the Sky Bet League Two encounter having not played for two weeks after their home fixture with Yeovil Town was postponed last weekend.

Michael Duff’s side sit 22nd in the table with nine points and will be playing back to back away matches following a 3-0 defeat to MK Dons on October 6 – as they search for a first win over Forest Green since 1998.

The Green Devils suffered their first loss of the season last time out – going down 2-1 at Northampton Town as their 12-match unbeaten run was ended by a stoppage time strike from former Cheltenham Town youth player Andy Williams.

Mark Cooper’s men sit eighth in League Two with 20 points - 14 places and 11 points above the Robins.

This will be the second time this season that Cheltenham have made the short trip up to Nailsworth, as the hosts ran out 4-0 winners in a Checkatrade Trophy group game back in early September.

Boss Michael Duff is closer than ever to having a fully fit squad as Sean Long and Aden Baldwin remain the main absentees, although right-back Long is making good progress as he bids to return to the team.

Duff and Will Boyle will be appearing at Thursday's press conference ahead of the big match and we'll bring you the latest here on ctfc.com.
