Reaction: Duff on Newport County win

24 November 2018

Michael Duff was pleased to see his side make it back-to-back Sky Bet League Two victories but is already focussed on continuing his team’s good form when the Robins travel to Bury on Tuesday night.

Duff watched as goals from Will Boyle and Tyrone Barnett helped the Robins to a 2-1 win over Newport County at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium – making it seven unbeaten in all competitions.

Speaking to the press immediately after the game Duff noted how happy he was with the first hour of the performance in what proved to be a nervy finish as the visitors drew a goal back towards the finish.

He said: “There was some good play in the first half. They’ve changed their shape – they haven’t played that formation so they changed their shape to accommodate us which is a compliment in itself.

“We’ve had some good opportunities. Ryan Broom nearly got in and it could have been a penalty, Chris Hussey’s free kick, there were just little moments, but in general you’ve got to dig it out at the end.

“It’s another game unbeaten, it’s another three points, the line has been drawn underneath it now. We’ll pick a couple of little things out on Monday but we’re preparing for Tuesday now. Enjoy it for five minutes afterwards but it’s onto the next one. The mantra needs to be one game at a time.”
