Reaction: Duff on Checkatrade Coventry win

14 November 2018

Cheltenham Town manager Michael Duff was pleased with his side's performance on Tuesday night as he saw his team clinch a place in the Checkatrade Trophy final round of 32.

Goals from Jacob Maddox and Will Boyle were enough to help seal a 2-0 win for the Robins over Coventry City at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium - a result that sees Cheltenham go through as Southern Group E winners.

Duff spoke to the media after the game and as well as expressing his pleasure at watching his side put in a strong performance, he's challenged his players to repeat their impressive form in the Checkatrade Trophy when they return to Sky Bet League Two action this weekend.

He said: "I've just told the players that the challenge now is to do it when there's a bit more pressure on them because the two games we've had in this competition when there's been 800, 1000 or 1200 people here, and not the pressure of three points on a Saturday, they've shown they are good players.

"When there's a bit more on it, and more eyes and a bit more pressure of league points and you're in the bottom two and people are asking questions, that's the challenge now.

"They've shown they're good players. So it's now between the ears to do it under pressure - and that's what the best players do."
