Preview: Duff on Newport County test

22 November 2018

Ahead of Saturday’s Sky Bet League Two clash with Newport County, Michael Duff has challenged his players to keep on finding a way of producing results.

He has seen his team record a six games unbeaten run of late, including an Emirates FA Cup first round replay win over Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday night at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

Following last weekend’s victory at Notts County, Duff is eager to get more points on the board to see the club lift itself away from the bottom end of the division ahead of a big test against high flying Newport County.

Speaking to the press on Thursday he said: “We know we’ve got a long way to go. It is baby steps. In the league we’ve only gone unbeaten in two and taken four points from two games which is a positive, but we need to keep building because there’s a little bit of a gap and we need to get back into the pack which is the next challenge.

“They are going well. Flynny (Michael Flynn) has done a good job. I think on Saturday and Tuesday we’ve got two tough games coming up and it’ll be a real test.

“They’ve got a couple of ways of playing and have good energy in the team. We have to deliver another performance. If we play well and show good heart, legs and good energy the supporters will buy into that because they’ll always buy into people running around winning tackles and things like that.”
