Loan watch: Under-18s duo thrown straight in

Academy duo Archie Brennan and Tom Handley joined Hellenic Premier Division side Lydney Town on loan on Saturday and were immediately both handed their debuts.

The youngsters both started in Lydney’s away trip to Shrivenham at Barrington Park and played their part in a high scoring 3-3 draw. They’ll be kept an eye on by Lydney assistant manager John Brough – the former Robins defender and youth team manager.

Elsewhere, fellow Academy youngster Will Dawes featured as a substitute one level up in the Evo-Stik Southern League South Division as Yate Town clinched a late 1-0 away victory at Winchester City to continue their reign at the top of that league table.

Manny Duku was the star for Barnet in their televised clash with Hartlepool in the National League on Sunday. The forward bagged two goals in Barnet’s 3-1 victory.

Also in the National League at the weekend Josh Debayo completed a full 90 minutes for Dover Athletic in a 1-0 loss at FC Halifax.

In the National League South Matt Bower started in Weston-super-Mare’s 2-1 defeat at Welling United’s Park View Road, and Tom Smith came on as a substitute for Bath City as they clinched three points with a narrow home win over Eastbourne Borough.

George Lloyd started in Hereford’s National League North trip to Darlington. The young attacker was forced off with an injury half an hour into their 2-2 draw however for the Bulls.
