Match pack: Mansfield Town

1 November 2018

Cheltenham Town play their third game in a busy seven-day period when they host Mansfield Town on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League Two at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium (November 3, 3pm kick-off).

The Robins have already played twice on home soil over the last week, losing 2-0 at home to Stevenage last weekend before securing a first win under Michael Duff on Tuesday with a 6-2 Checkatrade Trophy triumph over Arsenal Under-21s.

The Robins doubled their goal-scoring tally at home in the fourth tier so far this season during that one match, and Duff wants his players to build on their midweek success by backing it up with a first League Two victory at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium in 2018/19.

He said: “There was a bit more life in the dressing room after Tuesday’s result. Monday was flat and there was a lot of disappointed players, staff and we had to address that because you can’t feel sorry for yourself, no one else is.

“Hopefully it will inject a bit of confidence and it’s something to build on, but only time will tell.”

Mansfield arrive in Gloucestershire in excellent form and unbeaten on the road so far this season, sitting ninth with 24 points from their opening 15 matches.

David Flitcroft’s men haven’t tasted defeat in nine matches across all competitions and compounded that with an impressive 3-0 win at Crewe Alexandra on Tuesday.

Team news

Sean Long made his long-awaited return from injury against the young Gunners, playing 45 minutes and assisting Will Boyle’s goal as he eases his way back to full fitness.

Aden Baldwin and Kevin Dawson remain the long-term absentees for Cheltenham going into Saturday’s match.

We will remember them

Cheltenham Town will be commemorating the centenary of Armistice Day, the end of World War One at the Mansfield Town game.

Together with the Royal British Legion we'll be saying ‘thank you’ to the generation who lived through the war, served, sacrificed and changed our world.

There will be a special edition of The Robin available for £3, tailored around marking the 100th anniversary of the armistice.

We have also created a short film to mark the occasion, featuring some of current players and management who pay tribute to the people from from our community that paid the ultimate sacrifice.

That video will be played on the scoreboard before kick-off - a minutes silence will also be held and bucket collections will be positioned around the ground for supporters to say their own 'thank you' with a donation.

Former Players Association

Two club legends will be the latest former players to be welcomed back to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday as Clive Walker and Bob Bloomer are this week's special guests.

Both played an instrumental part in the FA Trophy and Conference title winning successes under Steve Cotterill in the late 90's and we encourage all Robins fans to give them a warm reception.
