Cheltenham Town Under-18s have been knocked out of this season's FA Youth Cup at the second round stage after this defeat by Gillingham.
They had impressively beaten Forest Green Rovers in round one and this was an identical team with one exception with Josh Gilkes coming in for Will Dawes who is currently on loan at Yate Town.
Boss Michael Duff, his staff and a number of first team players watched on against from the sidelines as they did at the New Lawn.
But the young side were unable to make an impression on the night against the impressive Kent side, who led here as early as the fifth minute.
Ben Allen handed the visitors the lead with a fine left-footed strike from the edge of the box.
They doubled their lead on the stroke of half-time through George Sheminant, who scrambled home the loose ball from close-range after Charles Noyelle had sent a free-kick into the box.
From a Cheltenham perspective, the best chance of the match fell to Aaron Basford in the first half when he broke from the half-way line to create a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, but the striker lofted his effort over the bar from 18 yards.
Gillingham extended their lead shortly after the hour mark when Jude Arthurs squared one into the path of Charles Noyelle, who made no mistake from six yards.
And number four arrived eight minutes from time, Roman Campbell heading home after Noyelle delivered a corner from the right.
