Cheltenham Town are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Ben Tozer.

Tozer, 28, has put pen to paper on a two-year deal to commit to the Robins until at least 2020.

The powerful midfielder becomes the latest addition to Gary Johnson’s new-look squad ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, joining new recruits Johnny Mullins, Ryan Broom and Alex Addai.

Plymouth-born Tozer has spent the last two years impressing at Newport County, making 45 appearances last season in all competitions.

Tozer – who stands 6ft 3in tall - started his career in the youth set-up at Plymouth Argyle before he made his Football League debut with Swindon Town.

The powerful midfielder has also had spells at Newcastle United, Northampton Town, Colchester United and Yeovil Town, making over 300 appearances in his career.

Manager Gary Johnson said: “We’re delighted to have signed Ben. He is a fantastic athlete and I have worked with him previously so know exactly the kind of character he will bring to the squad.

“He’s an experienced player and will be a big influence in our quest next season to push up the table and have a really successful campaign.

“Ben has tremendous energy to his game, can play as a real ball player in midfield and is also very adaptable and can play in a number of other positions. He is a great signing for us.”
