Cheltenham Town have today completed the signing of midfielder Alex Addai on an initial one-year contract.

The 24-year-old winger, who started his career at Tottenham, joins after a two-year spell at Merstham FC.

London-born Addai will officially join up with Gary Johnson’s men this summer ahead of the 2018/19 campaign in Sky Bet League Two.

The midfielder, who can also operate as a striker, started as a youngster at Spurs before joining Blackpool as a trainee.

He has had previous spells at Carshalton Athletic, Whitehawk and Kingstonian.

Manager Gary Johnson said: “We’re delighted that Alex has agreed to sign for Cheltenham Town. Not too many people will know too much about him at the moment, but I am sure they will come the start of the season.

“Alex came to our attention playing non-league in London, very much in the same way we got Mo (Eisa). He is quickest and most direct player at that level.

“I was really impressed when I watched him with the direct way he plays the game and his raw pace. He has the most pace I have ever worked with and I felt we needed that in the squad.

Addai said: “I’m really excited about the move and the chance to prove myself at Cheltenham Town and the opportunity to play in the Football League.

“I really want to get started as soon as possible, kick on and repay the gaffer for the faith he has shown in me.”
