Cheltenham Town will face Walsall in the club’s final pre-season fixture ahead of the new Sky Bet League Two season.
The Saddlers – currently managed by Dean Keates and all set for a new season in Sky Bet League One – will provide Gary Johnson’s men with a stiff test on Saturday, July 28 (kick-off 3pm).
The Robins have faced Walsall six times over the years in League One and the Football League Trophy – with the teams sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw the last time they met at the Bescot Stadium in League One in March 2009.
Manager Gary Johnson said: “It’s great news that Walsall will visit us in pre-season and give us a challenging and testing game ahead of the new campaign a week later.
“We welcome two big West Midlands clubs in Birmingham City and Walsall to the LCI Rail Stadium on successive weekends and I’m sure our fans will look forward to backing the boys in these two big games.”
Supporters are advised that full ticketing details for the Walsall pre-season fixture will be announced in due course this summer – but save the date!
