Morrell nominated for EFL Goal of the Month

9 March 2018

Midfielder Joe Morrell has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month for February.

The on-loan ace scored a long range stunner against Luton Town at Kenilworth Road last month and has now been shortlisted alongside Noor Husin from Notts County and Swindon’s Matt Taylor.

The winners of the Sky Bet EFL Goals of the Month are chosen by a fan poll on skysports.com.

Voting is open from 6am on March 9 and closes on Tuesday, March 13. Winners will be announced on Friday, March 16.

The February nominations for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month Award are as follows:

Noor Husin – NOTTS COUNTY v Crewe Alexandra – 3rd February

It was almost as if ‘Noordinho’ was waiting for the ball to be headed out to him from a free-kick, so calmly did he chest it down before powering home a 30-yarder into the top corner.

Matt Taylor – Wycombe Wanderers v SWINDON TOWN – 13th February

That’s why you should always build a wall for a Matt Taylor free-kick, no matter how far out it is! The 36-year-old needed no second invitation to ram home this rising piledriver.

Joe Morrell – Luton Town v CHELTENHAM TOWN – 24th February

League Two leaders Luton thought they had cleared the danger. Morrell had other ideas, striding purposefully onto a loose ball and bulging the net with this viciously swerving shot.

The shortlist for the poll was decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter. The judging panel comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; Sky Bet Sponsorship Executive Michael Holinski and EFL Senior Media Manager Rob Meaden.
