Manager Gary Johnson is holding an exclusive evening of entertainment to raise funds for the hospital where he had open heart surgery.
‘An Evening with Gary and Lee Johnson’ takes place at Ashton Gate, Bristol, on Thursday, July 26 and is raising funds for Above & Beyond – the official charity for Bristol city centre hospitals.
The money raised will go towards the Bristol Heart Institute Appeal, for which Gary is the Appeal Ambassador after he had a triple heart bypass at the BHI in March 2017.
Gary said: “It’s a privilege to be the ambassador for Above & Beyond’s BHI Appeal and give something back to the hospital that operated on my heart and got me back in the game. I received such amazing care and I really can’t thank them enough.
“I’m really looking forward to the event. There’s lots of exciting things planned for the evening so I hope all the guests have a great time and it raises lots of money for the Appeal.”
Guests at ‘An Evening with Gary and Lee Johnson’ will hear the father and son duo talk about their life in football on and off the pitch in a candid question and answer session with BBC Radio Bristol’s Emma Britton.
There will be comedy from Mark Watson, music from opera singer Tim Pitman and motown band Mission Blue and a three-course meal.
A charity auction will be led by former Eastenders actor Tom Watt – with once-in-a-lifetime prizes.
Edd Smith, Corporate Partnerships and Community Fundraising Manager, said: “We’re really grateful to Gary and Lee for lending their support to the appeal.
“The NHS turns 70 this year and this event is guaranteed to get people in the mood to celebrate. It has an amazing line up of entertainment and is sure to be a huge success.
