Robins to face Gunners in Checkatrade Trophy

18 July 2018

Cheltenham Town have today been drawn against Arsenal Under-21s in this season’s Checkatrade Trophy.

Gary Johnson’s men already knew they would face local rivals Forest Green Rovers and newly-promoted League One side Coventry City in the first stages of the trophy.

And on Wednesday afternoon the Robins were also paired with a third 'invited' club – which was Arsenal Under-21s, who will play in the competition for the first time.

The format for this year’s competition is much the same as 2017/18, with only a couple of small changes to the Regulations. Players from EFL clubs who are out on loan in the National League and below are now eligible to feature in the competition, while invited teams have been restricted to fielding two players over the age of 21 and more than 40 first-team appearances.

The Robins will face Coventry and Arsenal Under-21s at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium while the Forest Green Rovers fixture will be played away. For full dates and details visit www.ctfc.com
