2 January 2018

Cheltenham Town have confirmed that defender Daniel O’Shaughnessy has left the club ahead of a move to Finnish champions HJK Helsinki.

Finland international O’Shaughnessy joined the Robins in July 2016 and made 49 appearances for the club.

The 23-year- old has now been released from his contract at the LCI Rail Stadium and returned home to join 28-time Finnish champions Helsinki.

O’Shaughnessy said: “I’d like to thank Cheltenham Town for agreeing to release me to take up this new and exciting opportunity back home in Finland.

“I leave the club with many fond memories and thank my team-mates for their support over the last 18 months and the fans for their continued backing during my time at the Robins. Best of luck for the rest of the season.”

Manager Gary Johnson said: “We understand Dan’s desire to return home to Finland and he leaves with our best wishes and thanks for this efforts during his time at Cheltenham.”
