Robins confirm Onariase loan deal

1 January 2018

Cheltenham Town have today completed the loan signing of defender Manny Onariase from Rotherham United.

Onariase has agreed terms to move to LCI Rail Stadium for the remainder of the season and be available for the Sky Bet League Two fixture with Colchester United next week.

Born in London, Onariase started his career with West Ham United as a 12-year-old.

He worked his way through the Academy ranks at the Hammers before being named as a substitute in a Premier League fixture with Arsenal in 2015.

The 21-year-old later joined Brentford before joining the Robins on a six-month loan in January 2017. He made 24 appearances for Cheltenham and scored his first senior goal against Notts County in February 2017.

Onariase joined Rotherham United in August 2017, making his debut in the Checkatrade Trophy fixture with Chesterfield in October.

“I am delighted to return to the Robins and excited about the rest of the season,” said Onariase.

“I have many friends at the club and the gaffer has shown his faith in me to being me back. Now I want to re-pay that.

“The fans have always been great to me so I look forward to playing for them again and pulling on the Cheltenham jersey.”
