New signing: Sanmi Odelusi

5 January 2018

Cheltenham Town have completed their first new signing of the January transfer window with the arrival of former Bolton Wanderers and Wigan Athletic forward Sanmi Odelusi on a contract until the end of the season.

The 24 year-old from East London spent the first half of the current season with tomorrow's opponents Colchester United and is set to feature in the squad for the match at the Community Stadium.

Odelusi has been on trial with Cheltenham Town for the past couple of weeks and played for the reserves in their match against AFC Wimbledon shortly before Christmas.

As well as Bolton Wanderers, Wigan Athletic and Colchester United, Sanmi also counts loan spells at Milton Keynes Dons, Coventry City, Rochdale and Blackpool in his list of previous clubs.

"Sanmi has got good eperience with the clubs he's been at and has got very good pace," said Robins manager Gary Johnson.

"He can play as a striker, a number nine or a number ten, or as a wide player and he gives us more options than we have at the moment.

"Sanmi played in the reserves a couple of weeks ago and was also very keen to join us. He liked the facilities and liked what we do. He came to the Stevenage game and saw our strengths and weaknesses in that one but was still keen to join us.

"It's a contract until the end of the season and hopefully he will earn a longer one as soon as possible."
