Community: Trust launches girls education programme

24 January 2018

Young aspiring female football players can enrol NOW on a first-ever full-time education programme run for them by the Cheltenham Town Community Trust.

The Community Trust has for the past seven years successfully delivered an education programme for players aged between 16-18 to become part of the Futsal and education scholarship programme.

Students enjoy a two-year full-time programme, studying Level 3 BTEC in Sport (the equivalent to 3 A levels), whilst competing in the EFL National Futsal League representing Cheltenham Town.

And now for the first-time ever this coming academic year the Community Trust are recruiting female footballers to get involved too!

The Community Trust is holding an Open Evening at the LCI Rail Stadium on Thursday (January 25) from 6pm and prospective male and female students are invited to attend.

Olly Roberts, Community Trust Manager, said: "The Foobtall League Trust Education and Futsal programme has been a real success story over the last seven years with hundreds of boys taking part in the scheme.

"We are now very excited to open this up to young female footballers and expand the work we do.

"I would encourage anyone interested in the course to come to the Open Evening or get in touch with us for more information and a chat about wht we can offer."

The Community Trust is established as one of the top schemes in the Football League Trust Education and Futsal programme.

The Futsal and Education Scholarship Programme delivers a first class full time education programme alongside professional Futsal coaching.

Scholars study at the football club and play competitive Futsal fixtures (12 hours of education and two training sessions per week) against other professional football clubs, including Southampton, West Brom and Cardiff City. All students are guaranteed to play in the matches at every fixture.

The programme aims to provide 16 to 18 year olds with the underpinning knowledge and expertise in the field of sport, for students with aspirations to have a career in sport, sports coaching, P.E Teaching, Physiotherapy, Sports Management or Sports Science.
