Last day to bid! BLF matchworn shirts auction

27 January 2018

Cheltenham Town Football Club turned blue during a home game for the first time in the club’s history in December - and now you can bid for a piece of history!

The Robins wore a one-off blue strip for the Sky Bet League Two fixture against Crewe Alexandra on Saturday, December 9 to raise awareness of the British Lung Foundation, the only UK charity looking after the nation’s lungs.

The idea was the brainchild of the Robins Trust, who worked closely with the club and the charity in creating an event to put on a show of togetherness with the club's fitness coach Ian Hutton and his fiancée Vicky Veness.

By going blue we were able to create awareness of this important cause, and raise vital funding in the process. It was a day to remember for everyone at the club.

To date we've raised almost £2,500 and now we're pleased to share the details of the much anticipated online auction of the players' matchworn shirts, having been announced in yesterday's matchday programme.

Where is the auction?

We're working with our friends at AMS Auctions, a specialist company based in Leckhampton, who have supported the club down the years and are regulars both at the LCI Rail Stadium, and on the road.

They got in touch with ourselves and the Robins Trust to offer their expertise and platform to help us host the auction and for that we're hugely grateful.

When is it?

The auction is open NOW and closes on Saturday, January 27 at 9pm – after the home match against Barnet.

How do I bid?

Head over to amsauctions.co.uk and quickly register your details, then you'll be ready to bid when it goes live. Bidding for each shirt will start at £40, and it will go up in increments of £2 thereafter.

Which shirts are available?

Each shirt from the playing squad against Crewe Alexandra, with the exception of Danny Wright and Jamie Grimes, is available with every penny going to the British Lung Foundation.

On the day supporters voted online to bid for Danny's shirt in the main bar with the help of writer and broadcaster Tom Watt. At the same time Jamie Grimes' top was auctioned in the hospitality areas and they collectively raised £300 for the cause.

Our blue shirt was featured on Soccer AM, the Sky Sports show that moved to the evening that day for the first time in it's history.

Studio guests Tyson Fury, Danny Dyer and the popular Soccer AM team signed it on the sofa and sent it back to us to sell for charity, and that will also be available from Wednesday onwards.

There is also a signed Neil Grayson shirt up for grabs.

2 Jamie GRIMES (auctioned in hospitality after the game)
