Michael Duff nominated for Manager of the Month award

4 December 2018

Cheltenham Town boss Michael Duff has been nominated for the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month award for November.

Northern Irishman Duff oversaw his side pick up seven points from four matches, with the Robins also going seven matches without defeat in all competitions.

After securing an emphatic first win in charge of the club in the Checkatrade Trophy against Arsenal Under-21s at the end of October, the 40-year-old nearly sealed a first league win as a late leveller denied the Robins three points in a 2-2 stalemate with Mansfield Town.

A goalless draw with Ebbsfleet United in the Emirates FA Cup first round followed, before another Checkatrade Trophy victory came against League One Coventry City at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.

That triumph over the Sky Blues was the start of a four match winning streak as Duff picked up his first League Two victory in charge with an important 3-0 win at Notts County the following Saturday.

Cheltenham then saw off Ebbsfleet at the second time of asking, winning 2-0 in their Emirates FA Cup first round replay.

Then a long-awaited first home victory in the fourth tier came against promotion chasing Newport County as the Robins emerged 2-1 victors - before defeat at Bury ended the impressive run of results.

The gaffer is up against three managers currently in charge of clubs occupying the top six in League Two - including Shakers boss Ryan Lowe, David Flitcroft of Mansfield and MK Dons manager Paul Tisdale.

The winner of November's award will be announced on Friday 7 December.
