Loan watch: Worcester debut for Horton

11 December 2018

Matt Bower and Tom Smith both played 90 minutes in Weston-super-Mare and Bath City’s National League South fixtures on the weekend.

Bower, who celebrates his 20th birthday today, featured for Weston in their 4-2 home loss against Woking, while Smith was a part of a Bath side that drew 1-1 with Concord Rangers at Twerton Park.

Injury ruled Josh Debayo out of Dover’s National League win against AFC Fylde, and Manny Duku wasn’t involved in Barnet’s loss at Ebbsfleet United in the same division.

The wet weather put an end to some fixtures involving the club’s loaned out players. George Lloyd’s Hereford saw their game at Guiseley in Yorkshire postponed, while Academy youngster Will Dawes was denied his Tuffley Rovers debut – their home game against Binfield was called off due to a waterlogged pitch.

In the Total Motion Midland Football League, Academy defender Grant Horton made his debut for Worcester City in their 2-2 away draw at Sporting Khalsa. Aaron Basford was however an unused substitute on the bench. Cheltenham youth product Jamal Lawrence scored on his debut for Worcester in that game.
