Loan watch: Smith shines for Bath

Tom Smith claimed the man of the match award and found the back of the net for Bath City on Saturday.

The midfield man helped Bath to a 2-0 win over Chelmsford City at Twerton Park in the National League South – capping his stand out performance with the Romans second goal.

In the same division at the weekend Matt Bower started in Weston-super-Mare’s 3-0 loss at Oxford City, while in the National League Manny Duku was substituted at half time in Barnet’s 2-0 home win over Dover Athletic. Josh Debayo wasn’t involved in the Dover squad for that meeting at The Hive.

In the National League North, Liam McAlinden started in Brackley Town’s 2-1 loss away at York City, meanwhile George Lloyd played 85 minutes for Hereford as they suffered a 1-0 loss on the road at Bradford Park Avenue.

From the Academy youngsters in loan action, Tom Handley played the full 90 minutes in Lydney Town’s 3-3 Hellenic Premier Division draw with high flying Ascot United.

Ioan Richards made his debut for Slimbridge in defence in their Evo Stik Southern League Division One South win over Mangotsfield United.

Olly Price featured for 25 minutes in Westfields Total Motion Midland Premier League victory over Lye Town with the youngster picking up an assist.

Archie Brennan and Camden Duncan’s involvement with the first team at Swindon meant they didn’t feature for their loan clubs, while Will Dawes, Aaron Basford and Grant Horton all played in the under-18s 3-1 away win at Forest Green Rovers on Saturday morning as their loan clubs games were postponed because of waterlogged pitches.
