Boyle looks to build with positive week

13 August 2018

Defender Will Boyle has targeted a big week for Cheltenham Town as the club looks to gain some positive results.

The Robins face Colchester United in the Carabao Cup at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium tomorrow (Tuesday) before welcoming Carlisle United on Saturday.

And the importance of the two clashes is not lost on Boyle as the team looks to bounce back from successive 1-0 defeats in Sky Bet League Two.

“We need to turn this week into a positive by winning the two games we have,” said Boyle.

“We are all disappointed to lose the first two games and nobody wants to do that.

“We’ve got two home games this week to look forward to with the cup and then Carlisle on Saturday. Results are what are needed now.

“We go out every day in training to get a performance and work on the process. We want a positive outcome.

“When we played them (Colchester) away last season they had a man sent off and we exploited it and played well to run out comfortable winners,” he added.

“They have signed a few new players so they will be gelling as well. They got a good result at the weekend so it will be a good test for us.

“Last season we drew West Ham in the next round so there is that carrot and it’s a very important game in the Carabao Cup.”

Meanwhile, Boyle admitted he has been pleased with how he has settled into a new partnership with Johnny Mullins at the heart of the defence.

“Johnny has had a great career and has won numerous promotions from this league and has settled in seamlessly,” he added.

“It’s been great to play alongside him and learn from him every day in training and in the games."
