Cheltenham Town have welcomed their fourth new signing in the past week this morning with the arrival of Kelsey Mooney from Aston Villa.
The 19-year old striker has signed a loan deal until the start of January.
Mooney is the son of former professional player Tommy Mooney, who had a distinguished career with a number of clubs including Watford and Birmingham City.
Tommy Mooney is now a coach at Aston Villa and his son Kelsey has made a strong start to the new season in the Villa Under-23 team. Cheltenham caretaker manager Russell Milton won the race to sign the promising young player despite interest from clubs in League One.
Russ Milton said “We’ve seen Kelsey play a number of times for Aston Villa U23’s. He is an impressive player with very good movement and a good runner. He has started well for the U23’s scoring 5 times this season. He will be a good fit here and we now have a number of strong options which we can use accordingly”.
