Club Statement: Carabao Cup Pricing

16 August 2018

The Directors of the Club are aware of concerns expressed by fans regarding the fact that normal ticket prices were maintained for last night’s Carabao Cup fixture in preference to a reduced price structure.

Ticket pricing is always an emotive issue and one that has been complicated in recent years by the differing ways in which clubs at different levels approach the cup competitions both on and off the field.

The club has often maintained full ticket prices for the Carabao Cup in the past while discounting heavily for the Checkatrade Trophy. We respect all the EFL's competitions and believe the Carabao Cup to be a particularly important one. Both clubs fielded their full first team line-ups and it was an entertaining game that concluded with victory following a penalty shoot-out.

The Board has to balance the need to make pricing attractive to supporters while ensuring a sustainable income from every fixture. Despite this, we remain committed to trying to make football affordable and the Board will ensure that it takes into account the views of fans and all relevant circumstances when considering the price structure for future cup matches.

The Board is pleased to announce that prices for both our upcoming Checkatrade Trophy home matches – against Coventry City and Arsenal Under-21s – will remain at last year’s rate of £5 and £3 and we would like to thank all of our fans for their continued support.
