SIGNING: Chris Clements arrives on short-term deal

27 August 2018

Cheltenham Town have further strengthened their squad this morning with the arrival of midfielder Chris Clements on a short-term contract.

The former Mansfield Town and Grimsby Town player joins on a contract until January having spent the second half of last season on loan at Forest Green Rovers.

Clements, who can also play at left-back if necessary, started his career in the renowned Crewe Alexandra academy before spending two years with Northern Premier League Hednesford Town.

He was a member of the Mansfield Town team that won promotion back to the Football League in 2012 and spent a total of four years with the Stags before joining Grimsby Town at the start of last season.

"We all like Chris," said caretaker manager Russell Milton.

"He's experienced, very calm, keeps the ball and knows his role in the centre of the pitch.

"He's played with Sam Jones too, who gave him a glowing reference so it's great to get him in.”

Clements was thrilled to join up with the squad on Monday morning.

“It was a no-brainer to sign for Cheltenham Town," he added.

"I like the way the manager wants to play and what he’s putting together here."
