Goalkeeper Flinders to undergo hip surgery

30 April 2018

Cheltenham Town can confirm that goalkeeper Scott Flinders is to undergo hip surgery and will miss the final Sky Bet League Two fixture of the season with Crewe Alexandra.

Flinders, who has made 42 appearances for the Robins this campaign, is to have an operation this week before starting his rehabilitation and recovery.

The 31-year-old is to undergo surgery so he can return for pre-season and ahead of the 2018/19 season with Cheltenham Town FC.

Manager Gary Johnson said: “We’ve known for a few weeks that Scott needs a hip operation and so we have managed it through to the final part of the season.

“He will now go in for surgery so that he can start his rehabilitation and recovery programme as soon as possible. By doing this now we can ensure that Scott can return to full fitness ahead of pre-season.

“Scott has enjoyed a fantastic first season with the club, but the operation will mean that Rhys Lovett will get his deserved opportunity against Crewe.”
