Striker Elijah Adebayo grabbed a brace as a Cheltenham Town XI defeated Canadian team Calgary Foothills Under-23s 4-0 in a friendly fixture at Cirencester Town's ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Calgary's Under-23 team have been on tour in England and have achieved some good results including a draw with Reading U23s and a win over a young Exeter City side.
The Cheltenham team included two trialists and there was a full 90-minute run-out for fit-again left back Jordan Cranston. Fellow defender Jordon Forster also got through 60 minutes on the latest stage of his comeback from injury.
Cheltenham took the lead after only three minutes when the midfield trialist sent Elijah Adebayo clear in the box and the on-loan striker lifted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
Calgary had a chance to equalise shortly afterwards but their player lifted his shot over the bar from close range.
Adebayo scored his second on 24 minutes when George Lloyd produced a strong run through midfield and supplied the trialist on the right. His low cross was met by Adebayo six yards out for a well-constructed goal.
There were a number of changes to the team at half-time and both replacement strikers, Danny Wright and Brian Graham, went close in the second half. Wright shot wide after another good ball from the midfield trialist and Graham forced a fine save out of the touring side's goalkeeper.
Five minutes from time Graham added a third goal with a well-driven free-kick from the edge of the area that speared low inside the goalkeeper's right-hand post.
Then, right on the final whistle, Harry Pell sent Danny Wright away down the right. His low shot was half-blocked by the goalkeeper but George Lloyd followed up to tap in from the rebound.
