Preview: Cheltenham V Mansfield

25 September 2017

Cheltenham Town are back on home soil this Tuesday evening as we welcome high-flying Mansfield Town to the LCI Rail Stadium in Sky Bet League Two (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Robins are aiming to go three games undefeated after picking up a creditable 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley in Lancashire at the weekend.

Mansfield, one of the pre-season favourites for the title, have hit a run of good form and are undefeated in six games, with two wins in their last two fixtures.

The Opposition:

Mansfield Town have moved up to fourth spot in Sky Bet League Two after successive victories.

Danny Rose was Mansfield's hero for the second week in a row at the weekend as he stole an 87th-minute winner in a 2-1 home victory against play-off rivals Cambridge. Krystian Pearce nodded down a David Mirfin ball into the box and Rose was there to sweep in his second match-winner in successive games.

"We've got character in the dressing room,” said manager Steve Evans. “The character comes from the coaching staff in Lee Taylor (fitness and rehabilitation coach) and Paul Raynor (assistant manager) and Ian Pledger (goalkeeper coach) and all the people behind-the-scenes.

"We have some excellent people that look after us every day. If we all have the enthusiasm and tenacity as our chief exec (Carolyn Radford) and our chairman (John Radford), then we produce late in games like that. I think once we score, it wasn't in any doubt that we'd win the game."

Team News:

Cheltenham team news: Nigel Atangana will be assessed after coming off against Accrington Stanley with cramp, but midfielder Kyle Storer is pushing for a recall after missing the draw at the Wham Stadium. Jaanai Gordon and Jordon Forster remain long-term injury casualties.

Mansfield team news: Stags' boss Steve Evans says his squad are in 'good health' as they embark on the trip to Gloucestershire. Evans believes the 'one or two' players suffering from knocks are in good hands and could return.

The man in the middle:

Devon official Brett Huxtable – who has handed out 28 yellow cards and one red card in nine games this season - will take charge of the league game at the LCI Rail Stadium. He will be assisted by Robert Dabbs, Christopher Kidd and fourth official Ravel Cheosiaua.
