Striker Gordon signs up with the Robins

1 September 2017

Cheltenham Town have this morning completed the signing of striker Jaanai Gordon.

Gordon, who was a free agent, has agreed terms to move to LCI Rail Stadium and be available for selection immediately, subject to confirmation from the league.

Manager Gary Johnson said: “We’re really pleased to be able to sign Jaanai and officially welcome him to Cheltenham Town.

“He is a talented player who has been part of a Premier League club in West Ham and is now very keen to make an impression.

“Jaanai has trained with us for a few weeks so we have seen his ability and when he became available we were delighted to secure his services.

“He is quick and a strong forward who is determined to take on a new challenge with us.”

Born in Northampton, Gordon started his career with Peterborough United and made his debut as a 16-year-old against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2012.

The 21-year-old moved to West Ham United at the end of 2013 and during his time with top-flight club had loan spells at Chelmsford City, Nuneaton Borough, Sligo Rovers in Ireland and Newport County.

Gordon said: “I’m pleased to have signed with Cheltenham and I’m looking forward to getting involved as soon as possible and helping the club climb the league table.

“I’ve enjoyed training with the boys for the last few weeks, there is a really positive environment at the club and this a new opportunity for me that I plan to take with both hands.”
