Boss insists more to come from new-look Robins

2 September 2017

Manager Gary Johnson was keen to focus on the positives after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Stevenage - insisting there is more to come from his new-look Robins.

The gaffer handed five debuts to man-of-the-match Joe Morrell, Taylor Moore, Scott Flinders, Freddie Hinds and Jaanai Gordon.

But a late free kick saw the undefeated visitors take all three points from the LCI Rail Stadium.

"It could have gone either way. Like the fans I'm disappointed with the result, but I have to start again on Monday and build on the good bits," he said.

"The three new lads (who started) showed what they could do and I think we've added a bit of quality to the squad, but now we need it firing.

"When we got chances we were not able to put them away, but we have to create more so I was disappointed with that.

"Most of these players will have to do more if they are going to help us won games.

"We worked hard, but it's that work in the final third that wins you games."
