Dawson eager to build on home success

18 September 2017

Midfield ace Kevin Dawson is determined to help Cheltenham build on the victory over Colchester – after his first half brace inspired the Robins to climb the table.

Dawson was named man-of-the-match in the Sky Bet League Two encounter as Cheltenham Town ran out 3-1 winners.

“We’re delighted to get the win,” said Dawson, who has now scored four goals in six games this campaign.

“We’ve played better than we did against Colchester, lost and not picked up points so to get the win was a great feeling.

“I felt we played well and it’s nice to get three goals and we felt we could have got more.

“We managed the game well in the closing stages. They were down to 10 men and threw everything they had at us which opened up gaps to exploit. We felt we saw it out well.

“As soon as I hit it (the second goal) I felt it was going in,” he said. “I’ll take them anyway they come.

“It’s always nice to get goals and help the lads, but the most important thing was the win and the three points we needed.

“We needed that reward for how we were playing and now it’s about backing it up and playing at that level again next weekend.”
