Gloucestershire Business Awards: The Scoreboard named Marketing Campaign of the Year

5 October 2017

Cheltenham Town has picked up its first silverware of the season, winning a Gloucestershire Business Award at The Centaur this evening.

Commercial Manager John Finnigan was on hand with members of the club's board to collect the prize for ‘Marketing Campaign of the Year’, rewarding the team for the crowdfunding initiative to install the scoreboard at the LCI Rail Stadium in the summer.

The campaign, launched last November, smashed its ambitious target inside 10 days and raised £62,573 by its close.

Local businesses, sponsors, supporters and players – old and new – came together over the course of four memorable weeks to create an eye-catching project that was the talk of the town.

In the end, 639 people pledged their support on Crowdfunder with hundreds more playing a vital part in what we achieved.

Our dear friend Colin Farmer had originally got the ball rolling before his untimely passing and our campaign went on to realise his vision, so this award is dedicated to his memory and the impact he made at Whaddon Road.

The Gloucestershire Business Awards have established themselves as one of the most prestigious events in the local calendar since they were first held 20 years ago.
