Flinders expecting big battle with Lincoln

18 October 2017

Goalkeeper Scott Flinders expects a real battle when the Robins face Lincoln City this Saturday in Sky Bet League Two – but has vowed Cheltenham will be working harder than ever this week to bounce back from successive defeats.

Cheltenham suffered a narrow 3-2 to Grimsby Town on Tuesday night at the LCI Rail Stadium.

Gary Johnson’s men now have the chance to return to winning ways when the Imps arrive at the weekend.

And Flinders know the hard yards will be put in ahead of the game on the training field.

“We had to get back on the training pitch, because that is the only place it is going to be put right,” said Flinders, who came up against Lincoln last season.

“The last two games have been disappointing because we had a good six weeks together as a group.

“But we go again against Lincoln and have a chance to put it right.

“Lincoln are a big and strong team – it will be a battle and hopefully we can use our home advantage.

“The supporters stuck with us against Grimsby when we chased it and we need them onboard again.

“We do this together and hopefully a good result against Lincoln will put us back where we want to be and back in the pack.”
