Goalscorer Kevin Dawson admitted Cheltenham Town need to make amends when they face Grimsby Town and Lincoln City in a big double header in the next week at the LCI Rail Stadium.
Dawson made his comeback as a second half substitute at Vale Park and grabbed a late goal.
However, it was little more than a consolation for the midfielder who instead was keen to turn his attention to Tuesday night’s home clash with Grimsby Town in Sky Bet League Two.
“It was a poor day for us,” he said. “We went 1-0 down but felt we came back into it in the second half – the second goal sucker punched us.
“It was an off day, but we need to get going with games coming thick and fast. We have two big home games starting Tuesday and we need to put it right.
“We’ve worked hard to get where we are after a dodgy start and we need to go on another run now and see where that takes us,” he added.
“It will be nice to get back home on our pitch and hopefully get some points. We have two tough games but hopefully we can put it right.
“We’re professionals and we know it was an off day. The manager is not happy, but he understands the games come quick now.
“We will review it and then put it to one side and focus all our energy on Tuesday.”
