Boyle eager for a repeat performance

26 October 2017

Defender Will Boyle was delighted with his recent return to action - but knows it is vital the Robins back it up this weekend against Wycombe Wanderers.

Boyle made an eye-catching return to the starting line-up last weekend as he helped Cheltenham shut out Lincoln City and claim a 1-0 victory at the LCI Rail Stadium.

The centre half is now be eager to repeat the performance when the team travel to Adams Park on Saturday in Sky Bet League Two (kick-off 3pm).

"I have been itching to get back out there when I wasn't playing," he admitted. "The performance was perfect for me and the lads so I was over the moon.

"Football can change very quickly, but last weekend was personally a much better Saturday for me and the boys after the last two results.

"I was frustrated, I'm not going to lie, but you've got to channel that the right way. I was at the training ground working hard and helping the boys out, because we are still a squad. You've got to push everyone else on.

"It's not the first time it has happened to me and it won't be the last. I will use that experience going forward.

"Wycombe away is a good test for us," he added. "We will learn about ourselves going there.

"Coming off the back of a good result at home on Saturday, we need to show we can go away and face a top five team, put in a good performance and get the result we want.

"Everybody is getting back fit at the moment. Competition is fierce and that is the headache the gaffer wants."
