Academy: Duncan nets against Newport

18 October 2017

Last Saturday the youth team played against Newport County, and with many of the squad in form, we decided to freshen things up for the match and give others the opportunity to impress.

The match finished in a 1-1 draw and while both sides had chances in the match, the more clear-cut opportunities fell to the Robins who were unable to convert and punish the opposition.

Camden Duncan stepped up to score our only goal of the match with an assist from George Lloyd and Ben Hailwood.

This is a big week for the Academy as the EPPP three-year audit cycle returns.

The audit is conducted by Double Pass, who are contracted by the Premier League to audit clubs and ensure they are meeting the funding criteria for the applied category (our category being the third one). The Academy is aiming to once again pass with flying colours.

Our Under 18s youth team play Exeter City at home on Saturday and are looking to reverse our previous defeat against them earlier in the season. Please come along and support the team from 11am.

Hopefully we can secure a positive result before the young Robins come down to cheer Gary and the first team on in their match versus Lincoln City.
