Wright: Let's create big cup atmosphere

1 November 2017

Striker Danny Wright has praised supporters at the LCI Rail Stadium for creating a real ‘energy’ for home games this season – and called on them to crank it up yet again on Saturday in the Emirates FA Cup.

Cheltenham welcome Maidstone United in the First Round of the world’s most famous cup competition.

And Wright – who has netted three goals in his last four league games at home – believes a crackling cup atmosphere can really help inspire the Robins once again.

“We are enjoying our home form at the moment,” said Wright. “The fans are really getting the atmosphere going and it’s really making a difference to us lads on the pitch.

“We can feel the energy spreading through the whole club when we play at home.

“It’s a good atmosphere; it seems to get us going and we’re looking a solid outfit at home.

“We will look to build on what we have done so far this season in a new competition. I hope the fans crank it up to help us progress in the FA Cup and get a few more games like this at home.”

“We look at this game on its own merit,” added Wright. “Maidstone are doing well in their league and we will take them very seriously indeed.

“It’s a massive game for the club. We want to go as far as we can in the competition and hopefully we can get a positive result. We look no further than Saturday first and performing well.”
