Cheltenham Town Reserves remained unbeaten in The Central League as they swept past Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday afternoon.
The Robins had already beaten Bristol Rovers and Bournemouth in the first two games of the competition.
And goals from George Lloyd, Kyle Storer, Matt Bower and Daniel O’Shaughnessy continued that fine record.
Cheltenham started strongly and came close after 21 minutes when O’Shaughnessy headed over when unmarked at the far post from a deep corner from Will Dawes.
Storer was denied by the assistant referee’s flag before Rovers threatened as Will Randall fired over the bar when a corner fell to him 18 yards out.
The Robins opened the score after 31 minutes when O’Shaughnessy, Storer and Archie Brennan combined to free Lloyd who went around the goalkeeper and score from a tight angle.
Two minutes later Lloyd almost scored again as Dawes won the ball in midfield with a strong tackle and freed the striker but, after taking the ball around Pickering, this time he found the side netting.
The visitors started the second half strongly and goals from Randall and Toni Gomez saw the game turn on its head as Rovers took the lead after an hour.
Cheltenham, though, responded with the goal of the game as Lee Llewelyn’s low shot was deflected wide before, from the resulting corner, the ball fell to Storer who cracked a fierce shot in via the underside of the bar.
With Rovers down to ten men after Will Davidson was forced off with a serious injury, the home side made the extra man count in the final 20 minutes.
Towering defender Bower rose highest to thump a header home from a corner from substitute Duncan.
And Duncan was also the architect of the fourth as his set piece found O’Shaughnessy at the back post who nodded home to complete the win.
