Robins supporting Goals Beyond Grass

9 November 2017

Cheltenham Town recently showed its support for a charity that enhances the lives of boys, girls, men and women through Powerchair Football.

Goals Beyond Grass (GBG) takes the game of football from the boundaries of grass into the lives of all, supporting community development on and off the pitch.

The charity, founded in 2016, gives disabled people more chances and opportunity to engage in fun, social sports and uses Powerchair Football as the vehicle and takes the sport out to the community giving everyone the chance to feel included.

Captain Aaron Downes visited a session at GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester to meet players – young and old – and even got the chance to play a game himself!

GBG provides sessions to schools, colleges and universities. The aim is to raise awareness of the sport and in turn produce more players, coaches and fundraisers for local clubs.

The charity is also able to offer help and support to any individuals or organisations wishing to set up their own, local powerchair club.
