Community: Defensive duo support Primary Stars project

28 November 2017

Defenders Daniel O’Shaughnessy and Matt Bower recently visited a local primary school as part of the Premier League Primary Stars project.

Cheltenham Town Community Trust are working with local primary schools across Gloucestershire to deliver the project.

Part of the project involves working with schools to deliver targeted interventions to improve children’s motivation to complete physical exercise. T

he sessions involve tag games which the children can use during break times and outside of school. The trust will work with each school for a 12-week period.

The children at Oakwood Primary School were lucky enough to have a visit from Matt Daniel during one of their sessions.

Both the players answered questions from the children regarding healthy eating and lifestyle and what it takes to become a professional footballer.

Both players then got involved in the tag games and were more than willing to help out the children who found some of the challenges difficult.

At the end of the session both the players handed out certificates to children they thought had shown a good attitude during the session.
