Community: Robins off to winning start in Futsal National League

30 November 2017

The Cheltenham Community Trust launched the new National Futsal League season with a convincing 9-0 win over Bristol Rovers in the South West league – to send the team top of the league!

The EFL Trust Futsal and Education Scholarship programme offers 16 to 18-year-olds – both male and female – the chance to find passes on and off the field as students learn, train, play and work.

The Cheltenham Community Trust has once again enrolled students on the two-year full time education programme, studying Level 3 BTEC in Sport – the equivalent to 3 A levels - whilst also competing in a National Futsal League representing Cheltenham Town.

The Futsal and Education Scholarship Programme at the Robins is going into its fifth year and delivers a first class full time education programme alongside professional Futsal coaching.

The Scholars study at the football club and play competitive Futsal fixtures against other professional football clubs. All students are guaranteed to play in the matches at every fixture.

The programme aims to provide 16-18 year olds with the underpinning knowledge and expertise in the field of sport, for students with aspirations to have a career in sport, sports coaching, P.E Teaching, Physiotherapy, Sports Management or Sports Science.
