Boyle buzzing after his dramatic late goal

11 November 2017

Defender Will Boyle believes Cheltenham Town showed the real spirit and character within the squad - as his dramatic injury time goal grabbed a point against in-form Luton Town at the LCI Rail Stadium.

Boyle secured a point in the 95th minute of the Sky Bet League Two encounter as he turned home from close range – after a header from goalkeeper and his house-mate Scott Flinders.

"It's definitely my goal,” smiled Boyle. “Scotty (Flinders) has already got his one goal for his career. We live together so we were talking about that in the kitchen earlier today.

“He's happy with one goal in his career - but he could have had two. He's delighted to get an assist!

"The spirit was great,” he added. “We knew it would be tough because they have played well this season, scoring seven past teams.

"We had to hang on in there and make it tough for them. We were always in the game. The spirit and character to come back at the end was great. Some points feel more like a win and that was one.

"You could feel their quality. They will be right up there and I wouldn’t be surprised if they got promoted. But we matched them and were always in the game.

"The save Scotty (Flinders) did before half-time was massive. Stoz (Kyle Storer) kept us going in that second half and we kept them under sustained pressure.

“The crowd were great and I was in it at the end - I was buzzing to get it at that end.”
