Lloyd scores eight as Robins progress in FA Youth Cup

6 November 2017

Striker George Lloyd scored an incredible EIGHT goals as Cheltenham Town Under-18s powered past AFC Totton Under-18s 9-0 in the First Round of the FA Youth Cup.

Lloyd – who made his senior debut for the Robins earlier this season in the Checkatrade Trophy – scored a first half hat-trick at the Total Branding Community Stadium before adding five more after the break.

Fellow forward Camden Duncan also got on the scoresheet as Cheltenham comfortably booked a Second Round clash with Welling United later this month.

The Under-18s, fresh from making the last four of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup at the weekend, took the lead when Lloyd struck on eight minutes.

A fine Lloyd free-kick on 28 minutes doubled the lead before the young striker completed his treble seven minutes before half-time.

Lloyd’s heroics continued three minutes into the second half before a superb solo effort and penalty completed his double hat-trick.

Duncan made it a different scorer for the Robins when he netted the seventh goal of the night on 76 minutes, courtesy of a cross from Oliver Hunt.

Lloyd, though, was soon back in the goals, grabbed his seventh when he nodded in a cross from substitute Ben Hailwood before grabbing his eighth of an incredible personal night when he slotted home Duncan’s pass.

AFC Totton missed a late penalty, that hit the bar, as Cheltenham surged into the next round of the competition in scintillating style.

Cheltenham: Grimshaw, Hadley, Horton, Richards, Davis, Llewelyn, Brennan, Duncan, Price Dawes, Lloyd. Subs: Clayton (Gk), Hailwood, Cluft, Hunt, Beardsell.
