Report and reaction from the Central League win
A strong Cheltenham Town side beat Bristol Rovers 2-0 in the Central League thanks to goals either side of half time from Danny Wright and James Dayton. It was Rovers who had the first chance of the game when Rhys Lovett committed a foul on the edge of the box, but Christian Montano could only hit his free kick over the crossbar.
Cheltenham then scored with their first attack of the game as Wright was played through before cleverly lifting the ball over the Rovers goalkeeper.
The Robins had chances to get a second goal soon after as both Wright and Dayton misfired when they were in good positions, but Cheltenham took their 1-0 advantage into the break.
After half time it took just six minutes for Dayton to double the lead as he curled a fantastic free kick into the bottom right corner from around 25 yards out.
Bristol Rovers tried to get themselves back into the game after that but found an inspired Lovett stopping them, as the young goalkeeper made three fantastic saves to preserve his clean sheet and help The Robins on to three points.
